Badass Pix with a Cheap-Ass Camera

Badass Pix with a Cheap-Ass Camera

Badass and Badass Pix is not a genre. It's an attitude, an approach, a vibe. More than anything, it's Art Photography, which is a h-u-g-e and diverse categorization. It's you being a photo artist, not just a photographer. It's having the self-confidence to take risks, break the rules, and venture outside norms. It's rebellion! Anarchy! A fight for freedom! But you know: without jail time, a rap sheet, a prison tattoo, or stitches.

Badass can be photojournalism, scenery, portraits. It is fun to screw around with all of those and add twists that baffle viewers. Badass is futzing around outside the boundaries of technology, good taste, or conventional artistic theory. Badass uses your tools, skills, and heart to make Art -- not just 'nice' photos.

Badass Pix are squinted at, disqualified from contests, or vaguely labeled "mixed media," "digital graphics," or "weird sh*t." Most of the work I call Badass, illustrated here, is found-art photography, which more-or-less means art made by recording the image as one finds it. Simply…as is.

Now I can imagine you saying, "Well, duh, that's pretty much all photography, now isn't it?" Not really: here's some help. Badass is trying to find images that most people miss or never see at all because it takes imagination (some might say awareness. Or both) to recognize them.

Heroes of MidAria: Heaven's Demons

Heroes of MidAria: Heaven's Demons

In the strange and magical world of the Middle Realms,
there are many diverse races of people that inhabit the lands. Humans,
elves, dwarves, and plenty more civil creatures thrive on this planet.
The different races are commonly viewed on a spectrum, and at the
very ends of it, there are seraphs and demons. One exalted, and one
feared. Every group in the middle of the gradient strives to be like the
angels, as they are said to be pure-hearted and loving. Unfortunately,
what people know about these beings almost always comes from what
they have been taught rather than based on experience. Because of this,
it is often preached that a person can only be either good or bad, and
anything in between isn’t relevant.

It wasn’t easy for Dacitrynn, who grew up in a very uncomfortable
spot his whole life. Being a crossbreed of an angel and a demon isn’t
something that is welcomed in the world, especially since it is
forbidden. After a lonely childhood of growing up as an outcast with
the seraphs, it is finally time for Daci’s life to change when he is
banished from the High Lands following a public fight with his
stepbrother that grew violent. However, even though Dacitrynn no
longer lives with the angels, society below proves itself to be just as -if
not even more cruel- than his birthplace, and hopelessness soon leaves
him feeling defeated. Even if things eventually start to calm, there is
always another stressor that makes its way into the half-demon’s life,
and at the end of the day, he can only find himself wandering back to
the same two questions that have burdened him since the day of his
birth:

Is there truly a place for such a horrible monster like him in the world,
and what use could his existence possibly serve?

The Blue Zone

More than that, she has plan to bring back business, people, and the music. It is the mayor's re-election year, and so far, she has made good on her promises. Overall, crime in the city is down, but true to her word, inside The Blue Zone, it basically doesn't exist. Businesses are thriving, the population is going up, and music clubs are opening all the time. The Wasteland

The Wasteland by Harper Jameson

The extraordinary career and devastating life of T.S. Eliot.

T.S. Eliot is a hollow man trapped in a dreary world. He works at a bank, a slave to the clock, the same routine, day after day. While London's elite enjoy a Great Gatsby lifestyle and poets like Robert Frost are rock stars, attracting thousands of fans to each reading, Mr. Eliot walks past life, peering at it through cracks or around corners. Only in his imagination does the world drip with color.

Then one day he comes across Jack, an out and proud gay man being badly beaten, and something compels him to intervene. Life will never be the same.

Jack introduces Mr. Eliot to the gay underground of early twentieth-century London and to feelings Mr. Eliot had crammed down and locked away. And with freedom comes poetry. Extraordinary poetry that takes London by storm. But as Mr. Eliot's fame increases, pressure for conformity does as well. Religious intolerance, fascism's increasingly popular message of traditional values, and the allure of untold success present him with a decision that could have devastating consequences.

The Wasteland is the untold story of T.S. Eliot, his secret struggle with being gay, the people left in the wake of his meteoric career trajectory, and the madness that helped produce his greatest work.
