"Reaching for Mommy" is a heart-wrenching yet inspiring story of
Ebony, who struggled to cope with the loss of her mother, Serena, to
lung cancer. Unbeknownst to Ebony, her mother had hidden her
illness to protect her innocence. After Serena's death, Ebony
numbed herself to the pain of her grief but realized the impact of
her mother's death on those around her, especially her grandmother
Lynn. Ebony turned to education to honor her mother's memory and
